I've created this blog to allow my family and friends to see some of the places and things I have found interesting in my daily travels. I hope this gives you a glimpse into my life as an over-the-road truck driver.

Cold

After leaving El Paso I went to Grand Junction, Co. This is some of New Mexico that I went thru to get to Co. I made a stop in Alamosa, Co. on Tuesday morning. The man that unloaded me told me of a short cut to Grand Junction. He said that there was only one big hill and then the road wound thru a valley and around some hills. As I started up the big hill I was watching the outside temp. and it was +6 by the time I got to the top it was-6. Cold. It started snowing as I came down the other side so I had to weave my way around the other hills with a snow covered road. I came aroun one curve and herd of Elk were standing in the field beside the road. pretty neat.

Ice

After the snow of New York I delivered some farm equipment to Texas. I had delivered a stop in Waco on Friday afternoon, with the next stop going to El Paso for Monday. It was oversized so I could not drive at night. There was a good truck stop ther in Waco so I spent the night there and started to leave Saturday morning. As I got out on the road I keep hearing my radio antena hitting the side of my truck. There is only thing that will cause this. ICE not good. I am on a two lane road with no place to stop. It is a lite mist of rain that is freezing. Ice begins to build up on the windshield and also my mirrows. I come up onto a couple of accidents where the bridges are freezing over and cars are slipping off the road. I make it on over to the Interstate and a truck stop and call it a day. The next day I am able to go on over to El Paso with out any problems.

Fresh snow

The other day I delivered 3 Large air conditioners to this building in upstate New York. It sure looks like they needed them don't it?

Impatient people

Why are people so impatient? A few weeks ago I was in Mississippi on Interstate 10 and there was an accident going west, the same way I was going. Both lanes were at a stop but people were still trying to get around. At one time there were cars on the shoulder two deep and some were comming back that had turned around at the accident. This car tried to cross the median and got stuck. Now he has to wait for a wrecker to come get him out, plus the police gave him a ticket for crossing the median. He was still there when the accident was cleared and we were on our way. So I guess the moral of the story is to take it easy, don't get into such a hurry. The next time you are stuck in traffic just let you window down and say hi to the person next to you.
