Stuck on the Interstate
The other day when I was delivering the two trucks to Ca. I came upon a sign on Interstate 40 in Arizona that said road closed between mile post 233 and 253 for high winds and low visibility. When I got there traffic was stopped. We all shut down our trucks and got out and talked . After a while I got out a western book and started reading. We sat there about 4 hours. While I was reading another driver came up and asked if I had some jumper cables that his truck would not crank. I told him that I had some but I could not get close enough to his batteries to jump him. We talked a car in front of him to turn around and face him and let him use the car battery. It worked and we got him started. When the wind finally died down some they opened the road and let up proceed. What caused the problem was that the state was working on a side road and had a lot of loose dirt piled up and the wind was blowing around 60 or 70 mph and blew the dirt over the highway and caused the poor visibility. There were about 5 trucks that wrecked at that spot. No problems after that.
